Derby’s Big Lunch Comes to Arboretum Park This June

Derby’s Big Lunch Comes to Arboretum Park This June – Free Family Day, Community Stalls, Games and More

Something really lovely is coming to Derby this summer.

On Sunday 7th June 2026, Derbyshire Neighbourhood Watch will be bringing people together for a huge community Big Lunch event at Arboretum Park in Derby — and everyone is invited.

From free lunch and family games to community stalls, local support services and activities for children, the day is all about reconnecting communities, meeting new people and creating a positive atmosphere in the heart of Derby.

In a time where so many people feel isolated, stretched or disconnected, events like this really matter. Sometimes it’s simply about getting people out of the house, having a chat, meeting local organisations and remembering that communities still can come together.

What Is The Big Lunch Derby Event?

The Big Lunch is a national initiative focused on bringing neighbours and communities together, and Derbyshire Neighbourhood Watch is proud to be hosting a large local event for Derby residents at Arboretum Park.

The afternoon will include:

  • Free lunch
  • Children’s activities
  • Family games
  • Community organisations and support services
  • Local groups and charities
  • Information stalls
  • Music and entertainment
  • Opportunities to meet local services and organisations
  • A welcoming space for families, older residents and the wider community

The event is designed to be relaxed, friendly and inclusive for everyone.

Why Derbyshire Neighbourhood Watch Is Hosting The Event

Neighbourhood Watch is about far more than crime prevention.

It’s about communities knowing each other, looking out for one another and helping people feel connected and informed.

Across Derbyshire, we work with local residents, community groups, charities, emergency services and organisations to help strengthen local communities and support residents.

This event is about creating a welcoming day where people can simply come together.

Whether you are a family wanting something free to do, a local resident looking to meet people, or someone wanting information about local support services, everyone is welcome.

Free Community Stalls For Derby Services and Organisations

We are currently inviting local charities, community groups, support organisations and services to attend the event with a free community stall.

This includes organisations supporting:

  • Community wellbeing
  • Youth services
  • Older residents
  • Domestic abuse support

  • Community activities and local projects

The event gives organisations a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with Derby residents in an informal and welcoming setting.

Community and support service stalls are completely free of charge.
