We’re bringing the community together once again for a jam-packed afternoon of fun, connection, and celebration at the Derbyshire Neighbourhood Watch Community Day – and you’re invited!

Taking place at Liversage Square in Castleward, just a five-minute walk from Derby train station and tucked just behind the Derbion, this free family fun day is set to be one of the highlights of the summer. From games and competitions to crafts and face painting, there’s something for everyone – young or old, local or visiting!

🚨 Take on the Fire Brigade or Police in a Tug of War!

Think you’ve got what it takes to out-pull the professionals? Gather your team and go head-to-head in our crowd-favourite Tug of War, where you can challenge local heroes from the Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and Derbyshire Police (attendance subject to emergency callouts – but fingers crossed they’ll be with us all afternoon!).

🎨 Get Creative – Crafts, Face Painting & Carnival Fun

Let imaginations run wild with our craft tables and face painting stations – perfect for kids to get stuck in and express themselves. Create your own colourful carnival mask and take part in our mini parade to show it off at the end of the afternoon!

🚒 Meet the Emergency Services – Try on the Kit!

Kids can get up close with real emergency vehicles – climb inside a fire truck, explore the equipment, and try on police uniforms for fun photo ops. Complete the Junior Detective Challenge and receive your very own certificate of achievement! (Subject to the emergency services being available and not called out.)

🎁 Tombola, Bric-a-Brac & Local Business Stalls

Our always-popular tombola is back – and this year, we’ve got an extra special prize donated by ASDA! Don’t miss your chance to win something amazing while supporting local initiatives. Plus, browse bric-a-brac stalls, grab a bargain, and check out goodies from local businesses.

Feeling peckish? There’ll be ice cream, hot food, and treat stalls available to buy from throughout the day.

🎶 Music, Dancing & Entertainment All Afternoon

Enjoy the sounds of live music, join in with some community dancing, and be entertained. It’s all about bringing joy, sharing laughter, and making great memories.

🩺 Health Support & Neighbourhood Watch Info

Local healthcare partners will be on hand offering free wellbeing support and mini health checks – because looking after our community means caring for everyone.

And of course, the Derbyshire Neighbourhood Watch team will be there too! Come and have a chat with local coordinators, find out how to get involved, and see if setting up your own Watch might be the next step for your street.

🧭 Getting There

We recommend arriving on foot or by public transport, or a local carpark in the city centre as on street parking is limited. It’s just a 5-minute walk from Derby train station and served by multiple bus routes.
